This site is for people and patients to get an overview of common cardiac problems, their causes, diagnoses and treatment.
Hopefully this will help to reinforce advice already given in consultations by family doctors and specialists.
There are links to other sites that may prove useful to readers in providing more specialist information or relevant patient support groups.
It isn't intended as a textbook of cardiology or to cover subjects in great scientific depth.
It isn't intended to be a substitute for a proper consultation with a doctor but is intended to give a background against which such consultations may be more informed and more productive.
I hope that the content may also be of some use to medical students and junior doctors and also possibly to some more senior doctors who are perhaps not as familiar with the day-to-day practice of cardiovascular problems as those of us practicing cardiology and general medicine in a hospital setting.
I also hope that practice nurses in primary care and cardiovascular specialist nurses may find it useful.
